Deleting Your Account

If you decide to leave, here's how to permanently delete your account.

Before You Delete

What You'll Lose

  • All activity history - Past participation
  • Created content - Removed from platform
  • Reviews - Your reviews deleted
  • Messages - Conversation history
  • Reputation - Reset
  • Profile information - Bio, interests, photos

What You Should Do First

  • Download your data (Settings → Data)
  • Cancel any upcoming events you're hosting
  • Remove payment methods
  • Inform attendees if cancelling
  • Use any credits or process refunds

How to Delete

Step 1: Request Deletion

  1. Go to Settings → Account
  2. Click "Delete Account"
  3. Select reason (optional)
  4. Confirm

Step 2: Verification

  • Verification sent to your email
  • Click verification link
  • Or enter code

Step 3: Cooling Off Period

  • Time to change your mind
  • Account temporarily deactivated
  • Login to cancel deletion

Step 4: Permanent Deletion

  • After cooling off, data permanently removed
  • No recovery possible
  • Username becomes available

During Cooling Off Period

What Still Works

  • Login to cancel deletion
  • Download remaining data

What's Disabled

  • New activity
  • Create content
  • Leave reviews
  • Send messages
  • Receive notifications

After Deletion

What Remains (anonymized)

  • Aggregated analytics (no personal info)
  • Financial records (for legal requirements)
  • Reported content evidence

What's Gone

  • Profile information
  • Activity history
  • Messages
  • Payment methods
  • Reputation history

Recovering After Deletion

During Cooling Off Period

  • Login normally
  • Click "Cancel Deletion"
  • Account restored instantly
  • All data intact

After Permanent Deletion

  • No recovery possible
  • Must create new account
  • Start from scratch
  • Previous username may be taken

For Organizers

Special Considerations

  • Cannot delete with pending payouts
  • Must resolve active events first
  • Refund attendees for paid events
  • Transfer event ownership if needed

Cancelling Events Before Delete

  1. Cancel all upcoming events
  2. Notify attendees
  3. Process refunds
  4. Wait for completion

Data Export

Request Export

  1. Settings → Data
  2. Click "Request Export"
  3. Choose format
  4. Receive download link

What's Included

  • Profile information
  • Activity history (attended)
  • Content created (metadata)
  • Reviews written
  • Messages received

Reactivation

  • Not possible after permanent deletion
  • Create new account
  • Previous username may be unavailable

Security

  • Deletion requests require verification
  • Cannot be done by others
  • Support cannot delete on your behalf
